Dental implants have long provided a superior solution for securing crowns, bridges, and dentures in patients who are missing one, some, or all of their natural teeth. Implant-supported dentures in particular offered a vastly improved alternative to their conventional, removable counterparts. The only drawback of implant-supported dentures was the extensive oral surgery and lengthy healing period that patients had to endure in order to enjoy their many benefits.
Thankfully, there is now a state-of-the-art technology that allows a full-arch prosthesis to be immediately loaded and fully secured in just four implants: the All-on-4® treatment concept from Nobel Biocare®. At the practice of accomplished oral surgeon Andrew R. Glenn, DDS, MD in Lincoln, All-on-4® dental implants give patients who require the replacement on either or both of their lower and upper arches the opportunity to restore optimal oral health and function with maximum efficiency. Better yet, the All-on-4® concept makes it possible for some patients who would have required a bone grafting procedure before undergoing dental implant surgery in the past to proceed immediately with implantation.
With the All-on-4® concept, you’ve got nothing to lose - and a mouth full of strong, healthy, functional teeth to gain. Now that’s something to smile about.
In the past, it was necessary to place as many as 10 titanium implant posts to secure dentures to the lower or upper jaw. To replace all the teeth in the mouth would therefore require as many as 20 implants. In many of these cases, patients needed to undergo bone grafting surgery in order to build up the jawbone to the point that it could support the implants. This required even more time and expense on the part of the patient.
Through meticulous planning and state-of-the-art technology, the All-on-4® treatment concept allows Dr. Glenn to secure lower- or upper-arch dentures with just four implant posts. The concept is as simple as it is brilliant: longer implants are used in the back of the mouth and are tilted to maximize the bone-to-implant ratio, enabling patients with less jawbone density than would be sufficient in traditional implant surgery to become good candidates without the need for bone grafting. Dental implants placed in this fashion provide security and support comparable to between six and ten implants placed using traditional methods.
The All-on-4® treatment concept also allows patients to be fitted with temporary restorations that are screwed onto the implants immediately after surgery. These restorations are then later replaced by custom-crafted final dentures that, with proper oral hygiene and regular dental visits, can last for many years. The titanium implant posts, themselves, can last for decades and even a lifetime.
Truly, the All-on-4® treatment concept takes the premier solution to missing teeth to an even higher level.
If you are missing most or all of your teeth on your lower jaw, upper jaw, or both, dental implants using the All-on-4® treatment concept offer a potentially ideal solution. To learn more about this remarkable treatment option, please contact the dental practice of Andrew R. Glenn today.
